The New Entertainment Law

The Chamber of Deputies has approved the new law on live entertainment, a long-awaited measure for industry professionals, which establishes new rules and grants the sector greater resources and tax benefits. Among the new provisions included in the bill are an increase in resources for the Single Fund for Entertainment (with funds of +9.5 million euros for each of the years 2018 and 2019 and +22.5 million euros starting in 2020), €4 million for shows to be organized in the areas of central Italy affected by the earthquakes of 2016 and 2017, the extension of the Art Bonus to all sectors of the entertainment industry, the stabilization of the music tax credit, the benefit recognized to companies producing phonograms and music videograms and producers of live music performances for the promotion of emerging artists, with costs of €4.5 million starting in 2018, the extension of state support for live entertainment to contemporary popular music, artistic expressions. of popular songwriting and street art activities, and the creation of the Higher Council for Entertainment, a consultative body to the Minister of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism that replaces the Council for Entertainment.
